If your question is not answered below, please contact the host committee.
- Did registration rates go up?
- We think the registration for this reunion is a great value! Participants will get multiple days of quality programming, delicious food, in a wonderful city for an unbeatable rate. The registration rates are a little higher than prior reunions because prices are going up and other reunions have been under-priced leading to the host committee going into personal debt. For example, the 2018 Rosenwald Harlanites Reunion in Lexington, KY registration rates were $90/person so we think we are in line with what other reunions cost these days. We are also offering the ability to pay in installments using PayPal to help make financing the reunion manageable for families.
- Why do I need to pay dues and registration?
- Each family member is expected to pay dues every year regardless of if it is a reunion year or if they can attend the reunion. Dues keep you in good standing as a member and go to help cover costs incurred during the planning of a reunion (Ex – mailings, deposits on venues). If people don’t pay dues, there is no reunion. Registration is only paid by those attending the reunion. This covers primarily food and participation in other events (Ex – games, Dj for banquet, transportation, etc.).
- I’m a senior do I get to come free?
- Unfortunately, the budget does not allow seniors to come to the reunion for free. We do however have a discounted rate for seniors above age 70. This discount is paid for by increased rates of the adults so that we can encourage the attendance of our elders and help ensure those on a fixed income can participate. Seniors who turn age 70 on or before the first day of the reunion are eligible for the discounted rate.
- What about creating bylaws?
- If you are interested in being a part of a process to create draft bylaws that will be voted on at the reunion, please reach out to Isadore Knox Jr. (You can contact the host committee if you need his contact information). Also please be sure to have your membership dues paid. All those weighing in on bylaws should be in good standing.
